Uganda - Kalyango to Be Model Health Village

THE district has launched a campaign to make Kalyankoko Landing Site a model village in health and sanitation. Located on Lake Wamala in Maanyi sub-county, the landing site has been one of the worst in sanitation. This is why the district health department selected it.

The Maanyi sub-county LC3 chairman, Leonard Ntambi, said the people suffered an outbreak of dysentery last year, due to poor hygiene and sanitation.

“The biggest percentage of people never had pit latrines, so we sensitised them on the importance of latrines,” Ntambi said.
