Nepal: sanitation campaign for model village

Diktel (Khotang): Locals of Dharapani village of Chyamsitar VDC [Village Development Committee] are engaged in a campaign to make their village a model in sanitation. All the 31 households in the village have constructed toilets after a local organization ‘Janachetana Misrit Samudayik Sanstha’ launched ‘One House One Toilet’ campaign in the village.

The organization has supported Rs. 960 [EUR 9.70 = US$ 13.60] for every house to construct toilet. Secretary of the organization Mahasher Rai told that the campaign succeeded due to desire of all the locals to improve the condition of sanitation and the environment in the village. […] Earlier, the villagers used to defecate in the open.
