Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA) events in March 2010

Below is information on 3 upcoming SuSanA events:

1.  11th SuSanA meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

We would like to invite you to the upcoming 11th SuSanA meeting which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from the 19  to 21 March 2010. The event will be hosted by UN Habitat, ABES, SEI and GTZ. The event is preceded by the Latinosan II Conference in Foz de Iguazu and followed by the World Urban Forum 5 . The draft agenda for the meeting is now available for download (link below).  SuSanA partners/ members and non SuSanA members who wish to attend the meeting are requested register at the link provided below. A limited number of scholarships are available for participants from Latin American region who can make important contributions to one or more of the working groups. Women applicants from  Latin America are especially encouraged to apply. Application material available for download. Application deadline is 28th Feb 2010.

2. Dialogue on sustainable sanitation’ at the World Urban Forum 5 (WUF5)

The World Urban Forum will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from  22 to 26 March.  The event is organised by UN Habitat together with the government of Brazil. The main focus of this conference is ‘The Right to the City – Bridging the Urban Divide’. As a part of this activity SuSanA and UN Habitat are organizing a ‘Dialogue on sustainable sanitation’.  High profile prominent speakers are being invited to be a part of this dialogue. The event will also witness the pre-release of the SuSanA book publication on ‘Sustainable Sanitation in cities’ by the working group on Cities.

3. SuSanA Side event at LatinosanII 2010 in Foz de Iguazu, Brazil

The LatinosanII 2010 conference will be held in Foz de Iguazu, Brazil from  14 to 17 March this year. The event is organised by ABES/AIDIS on behalf of the Brazilian government. There will be five sessions, where all South American countries will present themselves. The main focus of this event will be mainly sanitation from a political point of view. SuSanA has planned a side event during this conference on  17 March. The side event will focus on food security, school sanitation and sustainable sanitation in cities. More information about the event will be provided at a later date.
