Infrastructure Development ministry has directed upcountry bus operators, drivers and conductors in the country to discontinue the tendency of calling anywhere on the highways for letting passengers alight for short or long calls in adjacent bushes.
The minister, Dr Shukuru Kawambwa, issued the directive in Parliament here yesterday when responding to a supplementary question posed by Hilda Ngoye (Special Seats, CCM).
The lawmaker had wanted to know measures being taken by the government to stop the common practice by up-country bus drivers and conductors to stop anywhere on highways for their passengers to get out for short and long calls in surrounding bushes.

As welcome as this development is , one wonders its feasabilitiy, considering that there is a relative scarcity of water in most developing communities making it undesirable for one to use rest rooms which are likely to be unsanitary themselves if and when they are available.
